Tip of the Week: 8 Ways to Use Google Gemini

Google has made its claim on artificial intelligence with Google Gemini, a new AI platform. Gemini can handle a lot of neat tasks that you, as a business owner, might find useful. Today, we want to highlight some of them to see if they can help you in your efforts.

Who knows? You might even learn a thing or two.

Gemini’s Capabilities

With Google Gemini, you can accomplish several tasks with relative ease:

Summarize Online Content

Gemini can help you make sense of content found at a web address, and it can even do so in a specified word count.

Get Recommendations

If you give Gemini some examples of things you like, it can spit out some recommendations to help you find more like it.

Comparing Input

You can compare two items side-by-side with Gemini. The program can provide you with a table that contains all the important information.

Finding Ideas

If you need some ideas, you can use Gemini to make some up; all you have to do is ask it to brainstorm ideas for your chosen topic. You should also specify what ideas you are looking for, whether they are creative or inventive or just plain weird.

Debugging Code

If you tell it what kind of code you’re working with, Gemini can help you create code in over 20 different languages. Gemini can also help you critique code and troubleshoot what doesn’t work (leave it to the computer to do computer things, right?).

Explaining Concepts

Sometimes you just want something distilled down to you in its most basic form. Gemini can do just that; all you have to do is tell it what you want it to deliver.

Taking Notes

Gemini can currently take notes through Google Meet, which is pretty neat. It can capture the larger, more broad ideas introduced during the meeting through a Google Doc pinned to that meeting’s calendar event. It’s available to organizations and individuals who subscribe to the higher tiers of Google Workspace. It’s great for a quick recap or to help absentees or late arrivers catch up.

Making Mistakes (Wait, What?)

Gemini, like any other generative AI, can still make mistakes. Double-check its work and be sure to take its recommendations with a healthy dose of skepticism. You can also communicate with the tool by thumbing up or down as necessary.

Be Mindful and Get Value from Google Gemini

Remember, don’t feed Gemini anything sensitive to ensure that you maintain the privacy of your data. Gemini also may share inaccurate or offensive/biased information since it is connected to the Internet. Keep all this in mind so you can still get value from the tool and recognize what it is.
